Complex
Animated Throwing Techniques
Adam
Gleeson (click
to go to his home page) is a postgraduate student at
Sheffield Hallam University. Combining the University's
motion capture hardware and software suite, with his own
extensive and accomplished animation skills, he set about
creating state of the art animations to show judo throws
in better detail. Bob Maxwell and Steve Bentham provided
the judo skills on the day by wearing the specialist lycra
suits equipped with motion sensors, which allow the computers
to capture each throw in detail. Not an easy task, Bob
and Steve had to perform each throw multiple times to ensure
a high degree of information was captured so that Adam
had enough data to translate into a real world animated
simulation. Adam's exciting finished work is profiled above.
